Beyond the Headline

Kalo identified a new high-grade Au-Ag vein cluster in a previously unsampled outcrop at Wainikoro, Vatu Aurum, Fiji. The newly identified target area is situated approximately 900 m northeast of 2026 drill hole VA26-DH19, northeast of the principal Wainikoro structural corridor and within predominantly andesitic volcanic rocks.

Seven samples returned up to 7.83 g/t Au and 108 g/t Ag, with five of seven exceeding 2 g/t Au and three exceeding 4 g/t. Individual results include 5.36 g/t Au & 54.6 g/t Ag and 4.02 g/t Au & 105 g/t Ag.

Mineralization occurs in two intersecting vein orientation, NNW-SSE and east-west, which Kalo interprets as evidence for at least two hydrothermal/veining events. The veins carry a classic low-sulphidation epithermal Au-Ag-As-Sb-Pb-Zn signature and lie along the margin of a magnetic low about 270 m northeast of the principal Wainikoro graben structure.

The grades are very good, but these are selective surface samples from only ~15 m of exposed strike length.  Drilling will be required to confirm thickness and continuity.  This new showing potentially represents a second structural/hydrothermal centre rather than an extension of the original Wainikoro target.

Ground geophysical surveying by Fender Geophysics Pty Ltd is underway across Wainikoro. The program comprises gradient array induced polarization (IP), gravity and Controlled-Source Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics (CSAMT). If geophysics and trenching demonstrate several parallel high-grade structures under cover, the scale proposition could improve considerably.
